Grape balls of fire! Make those satisfying, realistic grape soap clusters hanging from a faucet or shower head. Here's exactly how to make them.
What You'll Need
- Round Silicone Mold (spherical cavities for grape-sized balls)
- Clear melt-and-pour soap base (or glycerin soap)
- Purple soap colorant (liquid or mica)
- Grape fragrance oil or lavender oil
- Natural cotton or hemp twine
- Double boiler or microwave
- Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle
Step 1: Prepare the Soap
- Cut your soap base into small cubes and melt in 30-second microwave intervals, stirring between each.
- Add purple colorant and fragrance oil. Stir until uniform.
Step 2: Prepare the Twine
- Cut natural cotton or hemp twine into equal 15–20 cm lengths.
- Tie a knot at one end of each piece **this knot anchors the twine inside the soap ball.
Step 3: Pour & Embed the Twine
- Pour the melted soap into each round mold cavity.
- Insert the knotted end of a twine piece into the center of each cavity while the soap is still liquid, leaving the string hanging outside the mold.
- Immediately spritz with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles.
Step 4: Set & Unmold
- Let the soap cool and harden completely at room temperature or in the fridge for 1–2 hours.
- Gently pop each soap ball out of the mold. Each ball will have a string attached.
Step 5: Assemble the Grape Cluster
- Gather 3–5 soap balls together into a cluster shape.
- Use the excess twine from each individual grape to wrap and tie them together with a secure knot, holding the bunch shape.
- Add a final piece of twine or a small ribbon bow at the top to create a realistic stem.
- Pull all strings tight so the cluster holds its shape firmly.
Tips for Success
- No bubbles: Always spritz with rubbing alcohol right after pouring.
- Green grapes: Skip the colorant for a translucent, realistic green grape look.
- Shimmer: Add a pinch of purple mica powder for a natural waxy grape sheen.
- Best mold: Use a 3D spherical silicone mold for perfectly round balls — ours is perfect for this project.
